You don't say what year of Expedition you are looking at. I towed a 24 ft trailer with a 1997 Exp 4x4 with 5.4 and 373 gears. This was a high milage truck when I bought it in 2010 to try RVing. With a good hitch it was good on the flats but once I got into the mountains it was low on power. I know the newer ones have more power which should be a lot better. It was also my daily driver and I really liked the old girl,sold it when we got a 5th wheel. Had lots of room with the back seats folded down. Get a good WD hitch and you should be fine.
