vehicle for travel trailer

We've not bought our tow vehicle yet. Reading some of these threads I'm worried what we are looking to buy wont be enough. We are looking for a Ford Expedition for a 23 ft travel trailer. We have just recently found out that not all Expeditions that have hitche have a full tow package and harness. What we've been told is if it has the 7 pin plug on the hitch, not just the little 3 pin, that it has the full harness and upgraded stuff to pull a trailer, but know if thats true. Anyone know anything about that? Is an Expedition big enought to pull a 24 ft travel traler? Sorry to sound so uninformed, but I am. :)

On Fords. IF it in fact has a 7 pin. It does have the towing package, and somewhere in the Expe will be a BC wiring harness, and relay for the fuse box. On post 2004 ford there is a 4 pin, and a7 pin. the connection for the BC is under the dash on the drivers side.

As to your towing question. Yes a Expe will tow a 24' TT with ease. As long as the weight of the TT is under the Expe's towing capacity. Length has little to do with weight. And weight is what counts.

So having said that. I can tell you, We easily towed a 27' bumper to ball, 6000lb TT with our 2002 Expe. It did a great job, and handled the TT with no problems, no sway, and plenty of power.
