I find this story hard to believe. Any property owner/manager can ask anyone to leave at any time. After being asked to leave the person is trespassing and the LEO can remove them by force if needed.
Frankly, you can believe whatever you want. Lee county Sheriff has so much more to deal with, and are severely understaffed. I have had to call them for my business and some calls, they took over 45 minutes to respond. Community volunteer officers refuse to come into certain areas.
While I agree that once asked to leave, they are officially trespassing, they didn't leave, and basically ignored the GM. It did take the Sheriff almost 2 weeks to resolve issue. They finally caught them 'at home', and were able resolve without arresting 2 senior citizens, which makes up over 45% of Lee county voting population, BTW.
Lee county - by the time I retired in mid-April- had over 20 murders all within 3 miles of this particular Walmart. They have bigger issues than a couple of old people camping in a Walmart parking lot, and the GM wasn't pushing the issue too hard, because of PR issues that could arise. Our local TV news is as local as it ever is going to get, and arresting two seniors over this would have made the local newscaster froth at the mouth....LOL
