Washing & Waxing RV

I use a long handle soft bristle push broom. Nice wide head and long handle make it quick. I can do my entire 38 footer in about 20-30 minutes for the wash. Shorter if it isn't too dirty. Setup takes longer than the wash.

I have been using Collinite Wax #845 Insulator wax on all of my vehicles, RV's, enclosed car trailer, etc. for over 20 years and have not found any wax that is easier to apply and remove. I wax my T.S. MH twice a year and it still looks like the day I took delivery. I can wax my MH with less than half of the bottle (pt.) and still wax several of my other vehicles. I have used it on all of my classic cars that have very expensive paint jobs, as it does not leave any swirl marks and is easy to remove with a cotton towel.

I also recommend their #840 Pre-Wax Cleaner that works great to remove road dirt, etc. if you have not waxed it in the past. Some Marine Stores sell it or you can order it direct from the company.

Any good car wash soap would work well. Spray just enough water to get it wet and then wash is with a sponge or car wash brush, before it dry's rinse it off, it does not take much water, for a small trailer.

I use a 5 gallon bucket of water with a very small amount of mild dish soap and I use a large clean push broom to reach all over. I do not scrub hard.

For waxing I used to use a liquid wax like Turtle Wax liquid ice. No more. Our TT is one year old and I have edges starting to peel on decals. I learned from a friend that works in vinyl graphics that certain waxes have petroleum distillates that can dry out the vinyl and causes it to get brittle and break off or peel. I am switching to 303.

Washed and waxed my 29' 5'r, last Saturday. Just a bucket of sudsey water with Ajax dishwashing liquid, then while still wet, used Turtle Wax spray wax. Did this on the recomendation of a co-worker and was actually quite impressed. Works well if you follow the directions and one bottle did the entire camper with minimal physical exertion. :)

I wash mine with water only. Many of the soaps remove the wax. I don't know about you but waxing the RV is somewhere between dinner with the in laws and getting a root canal. So once I get a good coat of wax on I want to make it last as long as possible. If I can time it out I like to wash the RV when it is raining. The rain will dry spot free.

We have gutter flooder restrictions here also.

Sometimes the cheaper priced electric power washers use small amounts of water.

Actually most of the time I just wipe the trailer down with a wet towel.

Filling a bucket with water then adding half a cup of Meguiars wash\wax.

After wiping down I can go over the coach with a rubber shami or dryer towel.

Takes around 4 hours doing alone on 34' by 12' by 8' fifth wheel.

It's one of my "leave me alone honey" projects... :)

Probably the most conservative means of washing would be with bucket and sponge. Probably can do the complete job of washing with 10 gallons of water but you'll still need to rinse it afterward.
