I resent the implication that you know ANYTHING about how I lived or enjoyed my life.
Lighten up. Look at the emoticon I followed it with. And what I said about priorities. If you can get through life on tea and burgers to reward yourself by paying cash, more power to you. Never said everybody is entitled to everything. By the same token you have implied that anyone who has debt is overextended, which is not the case. My point was to not judge others if they don't live by your financial rules and to stress the fact that many will NEVER be in a position to buy cash and shouldn't be told to never buy anything. No more, no less.
Rick Jay's advice regarding paying a little extra on the principal every month is very sound advice, indeed. And I think may should pay heed to his life experience as he is not the only one on the forum who has lost a child or a spouse at a early age.
To the OP, I hope some of this discord has helped you make a decision. You've seen many sides but ultimately it is your decision and your decision only.
