I don't think you are listening to yourself.
So....let's not try and help people make the most of the financial situation that they are IN. Let them spend themselves into abject poverty, lose their home and job and be out on the street.
THEN.....because you don't believe in welfare, let them starve to death in the cold.
You can't have it both ways my friend.
And for about the third time:
I am not advocating FORCING anybody to do anything, except by making it impossible for them to make REALLY bad decisions by denying credit maybe.
I am advocating TEACHING people how to lead happy and productive lives WITHOUT spending more than they can afford.
And if you are actually close to a situation, it is easy to tell when they have gone over the edge. REALLY easy in most cases.
