What length sewer hose?

I can't decide between buying the 15 and the 20' RhinoFlex RV sewer hose kit. The 15'er is one piece and 20'er is made up of 2 10' hoses. My trailers waste hook-up is right about in the middle of the trailer, just in front the slide. I'm thinking that I should order an extension but I don't know how long?

I also considered the RhinoExtreme hose thinking that it would be better and possibly, but it got odd reviews on amazon. It got 4 stars, but for some reason 19% of the reviews only gave it 1 star and I thought that to be very high. I also wasn't sure if I could fit the 20' hose into the bumper.
  • With never knowing what you may encounter at various RV parks.....”bigger is better”! We have even had to run a hose beneath the trailer to the passenger side to a dump....requiring quite a bit of hose. I “overkill” everything, I’ve got two sections...30 or 40 feet total!
  • We carry a 10ft. and a 20ft. and a connecting coupler to put them together if needed. Generally, the 10 ft. gets the most usage.
  • Have yet to need more than ten feet. I carry a 15 footer.
  • I have used the same Rhino hose for 8 years, and it’s still going strong. It is the 15’ version, and only once thought it wasn’t going to be long enough. I had to back up the trailer almost off the site for it to reach. I do plan to get an extension.
  • Most sewer openings in parks with full hook-ups are within about 6' of your sewer connection. A shorter hose, maybe about 8', is best. If your hose is too long it is much more difficult to use and rinse out. Carry a longer extension for unusual circumstances.
  • In my experience (still relatively newby-ish) I've found the hookups to be near my rear trailer bumper. To dump the kitchen required one 10 foot hose. To dump the black water required 2 10 foot hoses.
  • I agree. Some days I need 5’ and other days I need 40’. There’s no standard or consistency!
  • You will at some point be at a site that you will be just a few feet short no matter how much hose you carry. So I would buy both the 2 tens and the 15.
