- Can_t_Wait_NowExplorerAlways carry except at work not permitted . If you are against firearms that's your right . That being said I like my chances of surviving better
- midnightsadieExplorer III,ll never tell. BUT you better ask yourself ,IF I was confronted with a problem? could I shoot? they might take your gun and shoot you.this is a very tiouchy area.
- skilesExplorerI believe everyone has the inherent right to self defense. How each individual goes about that is also their right. Be mindful of and obey local laws. If bear/wasp spray makes you feel safe then have at it.
- owenssailorExplorerWe are Canadians that travel into the US.
I have a couple of questions:
Is the US such a dangerous place that it is necessary to be armed with guns to be safe? Are crooks so prevalent that you are at risk?
Are there examples where having and using a gun stopped a crook. We see the rising death count by guns every year in the US. It is over 6000 Americans shot to death by other Americans so far this year. Has anyone had to use their gun to stay safe? I never see reports of this.
When we are in the US it is obvious that we do not have any guns since we have Ontario Canada licence plates. That is like a large sign saying "no guns here" Does that mean we are at additional risk?
Thanks - tonymullExplorerWhen I camp in Alaska we generally have a shotgun along, and bear spray, and an air horn. Never have I come close to using the gun for anything but a noise maker. But I sleep better. On the other hand I camp and fish extensively in BC and I never carry a gun there. Sometimes bear spray, usually bear bangers. The little hassle it takes to bring a shotgun into BC just makes it not worth the trouble or the $25. A gun is really just not needed and most likely not even useful if I did need one. If it were as much inconvenience in Alaska I would not carry there either. Last blackie I scared off I did it by tapping my fingernail on a metal table. Frankly, if I was so fearful in the outdoors that I felt I needed a gun all the time, I'd stay home. In Alaska, if I know there are bears in the area while I'm fishing I have the double barrel on my back, but otherwise it stays in the tent or the camper or locked in the truck and always with a trigger lock in place while in camp.
- Marine_By_ChoicExplorerI always carry everywhere. Shotgun, sidearm and knives. If not allowed I do not go there. Pretty simple!

+1. Not likely that it will be needed, but it doesn't hurt to have it along in case some rabid animal or rabid human tries to ruin your life. Ultimately, we are responsible for preserving our own safety; the authorities can't be everywhere. - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIII always carry ..... and have at least one weapon in RV, in vehicle, in home
Course I grew up with weapons.
They were a tool used for hunting
A means of enjoyment----plinking, target, competition
A device that can be used for defense
YEP.....I believe in 2nd Amendment and exercise that 'RIGHT'
Gun Laws only affect the 'Law Abiding' - path1Explorer(before thread gets closed) I do carry a weapon when boondocking or any time we leave our house for very long. More thieves in my neighborhood than when boondocking. Don't want my weapon stolen.
- NYCgrrlExplorerMad bad dog and guns and you still don't feel safe?
Syracuse must have some serious problems.
I don't travel with manufactured weaponry and I feel fine.
No problems with Canadians either.
