When to Dump??

This has been beat to death, but here I go anyway....

I know it's recommended to dump ONLY when the Black Tank is full. However, we do so little camping during the school year and it's only me or me/son a weekend here and there, it might literally be 4 MONTHS before the tank gets full.

I do be sure we use plenty of water.

  • I'm going this weekend for a short trip and will dump the GREY but not the BLACK. Figure the drive home will really liquefy the solids and then next weekend is a 4 day trip which will be our final one for the year, at which time I'll dump and REALLY flush the black tank. Generally if my black tank is 1/3 or less at the end of a weekend I DON"T dump it, it won't hurt anything setting in the tank and like I said driving with it in the tank will help liquefy the solids.

I was going to say after my first cup of coffee and a cigarette.
  • Hi,

I tend to dump once every two weeks. I add water to the black tank and use the built in rinser.

Hey Fellow Ag here. Class of '75. No storage -- I live in Houston. But general consensus seems to be just add water-- LOTS of water-- and dump.

with a black tank flush mounted in the side of the black tank opposite the drain, you can dump at your leisure and not have to fill up the black tank. I used to stop at a full hookup site every third night and dump my tanks, etc.
