I have bought two used motorhomes - 1 class C and 1 class A.
What immediate problems did you have with it?
I had no immediate problems with either one.
Did you buy it from a dealer or privately?
I bought both privately, off Ebay and out of state.
Did you have it inspected by a mechanic prior to purchase?
No, I communicated with seller about condition by email and phone. No money changed hands until I arrived and inspected before pickup.
What seems to be your most frequent mechanical problem with the motor home out on the road?
I had no frequent mechanical problems. The couple of repairs I had were normal for units of their age.
Did you find out later that you paid too much for it?
The class C was 30 years old when I bought it for $2,500. I used it for 5 seasons and sold it to a neighbor kid for $50. He and his buddies used it for hunting and fishing trips for 2 years and sold it for $500.
The class A was 16 years old when I bought it. I used it for 5 seasons and traded it on our current unit. Dealer allowed $2,000 more than I bought it for.
Overall, I was very careful when I bought and things worked out fine.
