Where do I start?

Ok, I'm finally in a position in life (early 60's)to take to the open road as a single woman. I am new to all of this because my ex-husband had no interest in the RV lifestyle so I feel I'm starting from scratch so any suggested books and resources would be appreciated. After my initial research I think a "B" class would be a good place to start. I will be traveling with a small dog and I'm an artist photographer in the western U.S. I do like some creature comforts but efficiency and economy are very important to me. I did spend 6 months living in a VW bus in Mexico and Central America with a boyfriend in the mid 70's.

  • For starters, I'll ask the mods to move your post over to Beginning RVing. I'm also sending you a PM.
  • I, too, bought an RV when I was widowed (my late DH wouldn't camp, either). I bought a Winnebago......and old one. I wish I'd test drove it before buying (long story, won't go into it). I suggest you test drive different kinds of RVs......and check with the RV sales stores to see if they have classes. Some here in Oregon do that. Read up everything you can here on this forum, it's full of info. I, too, think a B would have been better for me. Hauling a car behind an A is not as easy as some think. :) Best of luck to you.....and "GO GIRL"!!!! :) :)
  • How will you get around when parked? For that reason alone a C or even an A might be a better choice
  • You might want to investigate a group called Loners on Wheels. I think there is also similar for women travellers - just a guess, but it could be Women on Wheels.
