  • Personally, no chrome on a high tongue weight trailer!! Any roughness in the coupler, and the chrome will score and flake and continue to scar the coupler. Get a raw steel finish ball, Curt makes them and they can be bought in even higher pound ratings!!.
  • I pay more for a half case of beer than I did for my Curt ball from Amazon.. I just figured I'd pony up the extra $$ and go from there.. Sure, it's all Chinese-izm anyway, but the other option for under $10 just didn't sit well with me towing my new rig..

    Good luck!

The Curt is a 2 5/16 inch ball. The Ultrafab is 2 1/8.

Never heard of 2-1/8. No wonder it’s cheaper. Doesn’t fit anything...

Typical Amazon typo....Says 2-5/16 in description but 2.125 under features.

Get it right away. Lippert announced late in November they were buying Curt. LCI would already have a team involved before the ink is dry on the deal to figure out how to cheapen everything, and how much they can raise prices.

What a shame. My Curt hitch is excellent and their customer service was outstanding when I had some issues with the install. Guess that will change, as you point out.
