Ok I decided to just go ahead and put in the pink stuff. I used 2 gallons, don't know if that is normal or not. I figured 2 gallons of pink stuff was cheaper than running space heaters 12 hours a day for 3 weeks. There sure was a lot of crud that came out of the water heater, I guess I should drain it more often than every 5 years. Should I drain the fresh water take also? It would take a long time at 28 deg to freeze 20 to 30 gallons of water, I think.
