Winterizing Tips and Tricks

When I lived in Ohio we had lots of mice in the area, I used dryer sheets only, put them on the floor, beds pretty much everywhere. Never had a problem with rodents getting into the trailer and they smell nice.

I also put cut up pieces of dog flea collar behind access panel for fridge and water heater, seems to keep bug out.

Nice and I'm not saying don't try it, but we have mice that shred the dryer sheet and use them for nesting. Maybe it is a brand issue. these mice also ate the slivers of "Irish Spring" soap that Mary put in strategic places. I am trying "Fresh Cab" now. If it works, I will shout about it.

My take, save your money - it's a myth.

I can say that dryer sheets do repel dinosaurs. When I did use dryer sheets I never had any problems with dinosaurs getting inside our trailer. They always stayed outside.

At least dryer sheets leave your TT smelling nice ;-)

I always used "used" sheets maybe that makes a difference.. OR it could simply have been that the rodents preferred my garage to the TT..

I tried moth balls and dryer sheets, they didn't work. What has worked is sealing all the holes that mice could enter through. I got under the RV with a can of spray foam and filled all the holes I could find. I also made a metal clip to seal the power cord entrance.

Haven't had a mouse in several years.

We were invaded last winter by the little darlings. They didn't get into the places where I had dryer sheets, but got everywhere else. What a flipping mess that was. After we trapped all that was in there, we put Cab Fresh out and didn't have any more. That camper is now in the safe hands of someone else for this winter.

Get a cat! Won't have mice problems at all. We have a cat. He's an indoor-outdoor cat. Fixed and declawed, but still loves to go outside the doggie door at the house and comes to sleep with us in the camper every night. We live in the country with corn and bean fields for neighbors. So we have critters. The cat brings home all kinds of stuff he's captured when he does his daily routine and leaves his little gifts at the front door of the camper (dead of course). (mice, chipmonks, moles, and sometimes some kind of unidentified mass of fur).

I've read that when cats do this, it's their attempt to feed their family. They bring back their prey for their families to consume after they tormented and played with it, till it finally dies of exhaustion. I will say, ever since we've had cats, we've never had any critters in the house or the camper.

Well, I kind of take that last statement back. Sometimes the cat will come back in the house carrying a poor little mouse in his mouth and the critter will still be alive. He'll bring it right to our feet and drop it! Poof! off goes the critter! Now the dog gets REAL excited and starts chasing the little critter. Of course, we're startled, the wife screams, I yank my feet off the floor and we all say ... oh ... here we go again! Furniture gets moved around, dog is going nuts, cat is hysterical, and finally the dog will recapture the traumatized animal. One bite and ... the critter is history! We take the critter out of the dogs mouth (tug of war if you can imagine this), and then deposit the dead thing into the trash dumpster! Can't leave it laying around too long. The dog will start rolling on it. I guess its an aphrodisiac for the dog! Get him ALL excited ... if you know what I mean!

Dryer sheets also work for Werewolves and Vampires. But, they're useless against IRS Agents, they're just too evil. :B

I live in NW Ohio and Our 20 ft Hybrid sat out back of the house all winter. I used a whole box of Regular scent Bounce dryer sheets. Stuck them Everywhere i could. Not a single sign of mice or any critters. Worked for me.

My MH is stored in the country in a metal shed, so the mice are abundant in the colder weather. We used cotton balls soaked in pure peppermint oil (purchase at GNC). We place them in all drawers, closets, and out on countertops. This process has never let me down in 8 seasons to repel the critters. And the RV smells nice too!
