Wouldn't it be nice if

We went camping to a state park in Maine this weekend, and other then the sites being on top of each other, the amount of peop,e allowed to congregate at each site was incredible. We saw some sites at all times there were at least 15 people at the site and the people around them had 2 or 3 people just trying to camp
I know there isn't much you can do everyone is entitled to a good time, but it sure would be nice if you had a laid back section and a hard party section, because quiet hours don't always work

  • That is one of the many reasons we bought our own site in a private campground.

  • Head to Vermont instead of Maine, we've stayed in a variety of smaller commercial campgrounds in Vermont at the height of tourist season without any problems. Of course they explicitly advertised themselves as family friendly and were very explicit about kicking out partiers.
  • Parks and Camps have occupancy / site for a reason, to manage facility loads. Gatherings of friends and family occupying several sites at which they may gather for fun and games at one site is not unreasonable.

  • Yup. Too many people, not enough time, too few campsites. We gave up on camping in the northeast in the summer. Just like California. Same dynamics as well. Too many people with more money than brains.
  • harder to do out east I guess because y'all are living on top of each other already. here in Michigan, if I want laid back no crowd it's a federal forest service campground, or just a clearing in the national forest.

self sufficient rustic camping seems to deter the party hard crowd
