Possibly but i doubt it, i think it would have shown up by now. I was wondering if LT tires don't shrink or expand as much as mine have not loosened one bit after setting them. I bought them after watching my brother set his up... he has never had an issue either, once again he does use LT tires too.

Agreed, but what you're forgetting is that in these RV forums, lack of common sense typically overrides the laws of physics.;)

I think you described the situation that could bend an axle stub.

I can't imagine that the force a overly tightened x-chock could induce would equal 1/10 the force on the axle that hitting a deep pothole at 60 would.

It helps with the rocking front to back. That's why I use them.. no other reason. I still chock the wheels in the standard fashion.

I agree with you. But some say they help with the rocking coach. I don't have that problem, or maybe I'm just not sensitive to it, so I don't have any of the myriad contraptions that are used to simulate a foundation.

I'm not sure what lesson you learned, but in a similar situation long long ago, I learned that placing my tongue jack on anything elevated was a very bad idea. A 2x6 or 2x8 layed flat to keep my jack out of the dirt is all I ever used. And I follow the same practice under my fiver landing gear.

Good point - if you shouldn't use X-chocks as chocks, why use "chock" in the name? X-chocks is all I use but we only park on relatively level sites in commercial CGs. I always tighten the X-chocks as far as I can and when we pack up to leave, they're always just as tight. Even if the temp. drops to near freezing, it doesn't make a difference. Our tires do not seem to shrink but maybe higher load road range tires inflated to their max. rating don't shrink as much?

I would think using X-chocks alone on spread axles isn't a good idea?

I did have an occasion once early this season at a CG that had just placed new gravel on the sites. Gravel had round stones, not crushed gravel in it so was like being on marbles. I had to use a few lego blocks under the tires on one side. I use 6x6 under the tongue jack. I didn't know how soft the underlying ground was from all the recent rain and the 6x6 rolled to one side as I raised the tongue jack and it slipped clear off. The X-chock popped out on one side in the process. TT wasn't going to go anywhere but def. not fun getting the tongue jacked back up and hooked back onto the truck to get the TT back into place. Lesson learned.

So if they shouldn't be used to chock the wheels then wth good are they? Do they come in different colors? Fashion accessories?

So far, wood blocks, rocks, bricks, sand bags, logs, etc haven't failed me as long as I actually chocked the wheels with something.
If one "needs" to use wheel chocks in addition then why buy the X ones?
