And I am also from the same Old Biscuit mold in that I make my own decisions on these types of issues. I will also bet that Old Biscuit totally understands the cooling of the tires, as I, and checks and re-tightens the chocks after the tires cool. :S :h

Convenient explanation ... but then how do you unhitch when the instructions clearly warn against this with their X-Chocks in place?

How do you do that safely if there is no other method being used to safely chock the trailer? Seems the "ignorance is bliss" theory still reigns supreme for some. :S
My chocks are installed and tightened before I disconnect my 5er, and are not removed until I am hooked back up. Still holding up after 8 years of this process. This process works fine for me. And I am glad your process works fine for you.
Many camping processes (like running your frig while traveling), are personal decisions or opinions, and not necessarily right or wrong. I enjoy commenting on how I do something while camping, but I prefer not to tell others that they are wrong. :)
