Hello, I tow a 2012 Ford Focus, standard transmission. I use Demco Aluminator tow bars. I use the car's own brake lights, etc. I did not install the base plate myself, but I know it involved taking the front bumper assembly off, etc. I have towed the car for over 2000 miles so far with no issues. With a standard transmission it is just put it in neutral, release the park brake and take the key out of the ignition. The auto trnasmission involves a little more, talk to your Ford dealer.
