Just made a little visit to La Manzanilla, a beautiful Mexican tourist village on a beautiful flat beach.
Discovered a little camp site with facilities right next to the Cocodrillo Reserve (yes there is a chain link fence).
I have no idea on rates but I would expect borato, and space was available. One of the most interesting things I saw was a CA Class A that tows a 08 Smart Car flat 4 on the road. The guy says all he does is put tranny in neutral and tows. No problemas.

  • Me too. It is a great tow vehicle and fun to drive. My '09 is modified with larger tires which track better on normal driving and towing. They make it unnecessary to bungee the steering wheel to the seat to prevent the wobble of stock Smart's when towing. I have not found it necessary to use a battery disconnect but I do run it at the end of the day for 15 minutes to a half hour just as a precaution. I have towed to Alaska, California, Vancouver BC, Florida and points in between and all is well.
  • I've been flat towing my 2009 smart fortwo since 2011. A battery disconnect switch and following the flat towing instructions in the owners manual is all that is needed. There are no towing speed limit restrictions or requirement to stop every x hundred miles to run the engine for 5 minutes.
