$1.8 million worth of luxury RVs stolen

'Prolly going to be turned into rolling meth labs... cause I do not know how one would dump these into legit consumer market:

$1.8 million worth of luxury RVs stolen from Frederick lot

FREDERICK, Colo. — Thieves made off with three luxury RVs worth nearly $2 million from a lot in Frederick this week.

Transwest Truck Trailer RV on the east side of Interstate 25 north of Highway 52 said on its Facebook page the RVs were swiped about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

All three of the RVs are new and priced at $450,000 to $778,000. They are a Newmar Dutchstar, a Newmar Essex and a Newmar Mountain Aire.

Surveillance video shows RVs entering and leaving the lot.

A report has been filed with the Frederick Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 720-382-5700 or Transwest 800-909-7071
  • I would think that shipping oversees would be somewhat difficult too. A co-worker mention perhaps parting out... never heard of an RV chop-shop.
  • I think that if they were stealing one for a meth lab it would be a less conspicuous RV that could just be stashed in the woods. I'd guess that they immediately crossed the border to the South.
    bumpy
  • We spent about a week at this Transwest location in Sept of 2015 while waiting repairs. I can see how this could have happen. IMO, the security was lax. Lots of in and out traffic.

That sounds like a risky enterprise re: using as meth lab. Could draw a lot of unwanted attention. Another possibility might be to ship them overseas.
