Drive the western shore of lower Michigan and stop in Traverse City. While there visit the wineries ( more than 50 to choose from) . Take a day to drive up the Lelanau peninsula and stop in The old Fish Town ( eat at the Blue Bird Restaurant). You could spend weeks in the Traverse city area. Many beaches and superb scenery, restaurants, shopping.
You could then travel just over a hour north and stay in Petoskey. Nice little town. Drive around the bay to Harbor Springs for lunch or dinner, nice shopping and little stores. From Petoskey you can take a day trip to Mackinaw Island ( by boat). There are nice campgrounds and MH resorts around Petoskey. The KOA just north of Petosky is very nice and big rig friendly.
Then head up to the U.P of Michigan and travel the southern shore. Talk about beautiful. There are campground throughout the U.P. In Houghton in the U.P. The is a little city owned campground just outside of town right on the river. From there you can visit the copper harbor area and copper mines if that's your interest. From there you could swing into Minnesota. I'm sure some could help you from there.
