We like using roads that used to be the main roads before the interstates. Everybody & their brother has done rte 66 but there are others.
We have done most of 36 at one point or another. Also pieced together we have done rt 50 in its entirety. Done most of rt2. All of them are great roads with a mixed bag of traffic density & road condition, mostly good.
Need to work more on the scenic byways though a good portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Natchez Trace & parts of The Great River Road have been done.
It all takes time but well worth not seeing the miles of nothingness on the interstates.
