1/2 ton PU with golf car in bed

We are considering getting a PU for a toad so we can haul our electric golf car along in the truck bed. For various reasons (two dogs and other 'stuff' we haul) we want a 4 door crew cab truck. However, that will give us a short bed and I suspect the rear wheels of the GC will sit partially on the open tailgate.

I am curious if anyone is hauling a golf car in a similar situation and, if so, have there been any issues?

What's the weight distribution on the axles? If front end is lighter you may want to back it on.
That's actually what we do with the Rzr, as it is rear engine and that puts the weight ahead of the axle instead of on the tailgate.

  • Here is the "insurance" I use if I have to leave the tailgate either fully or partially down with something setting on it. I have both the full and 10" set to give me peace of mind.
