12 volt or low wattage vacuum cleaner

Hi All - Can anyone recommend a good 12 volt or low wattage vacuum cleaner. We will be doing some dry camping this year, obviously without hookups. Most everything we need we can do with 12 volts, except TV and vacuum cleaner. I plan on buying an inexpensive 300 watt pure sine wave inverter for the TV. Hopefully I could find a decent 12 volt vac, or find one that will work with the inverter. Thanks for any help.

  • We received a 12v hand held vac when we bought our Kirby years ago, it works great!

The specs look ok and I like the ability to use my 18v battery packs.

if you already have the battery packs/charger/etc. makes sense to get this one but it doesn't show hard pipes to use on floors, etc.

I often use the broom.. But my recommendations come in 3 flavors

12 volt.. I have a 12 volt "Shop" style vac (My 2nd) I used it just the other day, works fairly well..

Shark battery operated "lift off" portable

    Dyson.. Likewise.

There are also 18V battery chargers available for the Ryobi One+ system (and most other cordless construction tool systems) that run off of vehicle 12V power via a lighter socket.

I'm not sure the little vacuum is the best of the Ryobi 18V tools, from what I've read. I can't say that I've studied the matter very closely, as it was not one that interested me particularly.

I use a little rechargeable folding stick vacuum with a removable hand vacuum insert (the Bissel Lift-Off Floors and More Pet, to be precise, though my reason for choosing that particular model had more to do with finding it locally at a good price than anything else). I've been pretty impressed overall with how well it works, though it's certainly not as powerful as a home vacuum cleaner. It would not be too hard to rig up a DC-DC converter to be able to charge it from 12V power; it comes with a wall wart for that purpose, and it's a slow charger.

I have 2 of these - have owned them for years now, and they do an awesome job!! And I see the price has come down considerably, too. The battery holds a remarkably-long charge, and it works equally as well on carpet or hard flooring. I think in a msall space like an RV, you could go a couple of weeks doing light touchups?

We too use the rechargeable type vacuum... It stays plugged in all the time and keeps charged up when on shore power... Its hanging on a cabinet door...

It is a Dirt Devil brand I think...

Works good for us with our small foot print floorplan...
