1978 Chevy Itasca for $4800

Hi there, I’m new to RV living and would like get some opinions on this 78 Chevy Itasca. Does it look like it’s priced right, and what should I look out for/ ask about when I go to take a look at it?

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!
  • Image One...THREE out of five forward clearance lights are busted. Water entry point! And owner doesn’t care enough to replace?
  • Look for any signs of water intrusion, i.e., stains on the ceiling, especially in the cabover area. Look inside all the cabinets too, with a good flashlight. Check the entire floor area for soft spots. Check inside base cabinets, especially those with sinks for signs of rot, mildew, etc. Check all the exterior seams to see if any of them are open. Since you are new to RVs, you may want to consider hiring a mobile RV tech to look at the coach and tell you what needs attention. Spending a couple hundred to save making a $4,800 mistake might just be a good investment.
  • That’s awfully old. Has the roof been maintained? (You can see maintenance) Any floor or wall softness? When you inspected the underbody by crawling underneath, what did you see? (Salt damage etc.) Age of the tires? (I saw the coin measurement) Stored indoors? All systems worked for you? (Not just owner saying they work) Chassis maintenance records complete?
