1995 LANCE TRAVEL TRAILER SLIDE-OUT DAMAGE

I'm really, really surprised to hear this about Lance. What I've seen and heard over the years is nothing but top-notch quality. But then again, I haven't been around any for a few years. Nowadays hearing nothing but good things about the Artic Fox. Good luck.

Wife and I were looking at Lance slide in campers a few years back. Really liked their units but soon discovered they were having many issues with their Schwintec slide outs. Google the problem and you'll see what I'm talking about. Lance's solution was metal strips riveted on bottom of slide where rollers traveled. Band aid at best. We ended up buying an Arctic Fox camper because they did not use Schwintec on their slides.

I must admit, owning any RV comes with its issues. I love my Lance and have learned to just go with the flow. I’m sure every RV owner from pop ups to class A’s do the same. I’ve found: hold your selling dealer accountable and stay vigilant with the manufacturer. That’s how problem get fixed.

Man, I really had my sights set on a Lance trailer. Now I'm very leery, and may settle for something with no slide at all (again).

Hi Robert. I contacted lance Corp. (Cory) said because my Lance was no longer under warranty they could not help me with the leak. But, they did send parts and repair authorization for the fiberglass underbelly of the slideout to my dealer for an upgrade at their expense. This was after sending picture to them. The upgrade involved adding two steele plates that run along the rollers that helps to prevent damage along the fiberglass board under the slideout. I also took pics and videos of the water leaking into my RV to my dealer as well. After two attempts including my own chalking, my dealer also chalked along all and every outer seams of the slideout including all around the compartment door as well as the area where the cog rail meets the outer lip. That did the trick. I am happy now to have a dry RV. Good luck to you. Pete

I also have the 1995 (2014), and have just begun having the exact same issue. The underside of the slide is wet along the rear facing edge, and the fiberglass is damaged where it travels over the roller. I have an upcoming appointment with my local dealer to have it looked at, but was just wondering if and how your issue was resolved. Thanks.

You are the second person who have posted major problems with there Lance camper that was not very old.

I would contact the factory to see if they would offer assistance.

I have an extended warranty. I'm hoping that they will help especially when it comes to leaks that cause damage.
