2000 Olds Bravada with front tow hooks?

We have a new to us 1997 Allegro Bus and a 2010 Chevy HHR that we were planning to rig up as a tow vehicle but then we noticed our son's 2000 awd Olds Bravada has 2 front tow hooks.

Would that be a sign that it's towable on four?

Then what are those hooks for?

I have done as much research as I could without spending $1.99 for the complete list and I've found towbars from Blue Ox for them.

Refer to the owners manual under "recreational towing".

Thanks, Hopefully I can find one.
  • Found one! It doesn't look like it can be towed down. That's ok.
    Thanks!
  • The tow hook is most lickly to eather pull someone out or get pulled out when you get stuck. What do they look like?

Recovery. If the vehicle needs to be pulled out of something, like a snow bank or a ditch.

    From the manual HERE :

Your vehicle was not designed to be towed with all four
wheels on the ground. If your vehicle must be towed,
see “Towing Your Vehicle” in the Index.

    NOTICE:
Towing your vehicle with all four wheels on the
    ground will damage drivetrain components.

With current trends in automotive styles and design, it is
essential that the correct towing equipment is used to
tow a vehicle. Your vehicle can be towed with wheel lift
equipment or car carrier equipment. When using wheel
lift equipment, you must have a towing dolly under the
rear wheels when towing from the front and under the
front wheels when towing from the rear.
  • The Bravada uses an AWD transfer case with no Neutral position. Flat towing will not be good.
  • Tow hooks are not for towing as RV owners mean it. They are for getting somebody out of a ditch -- maybe fifty feet, not hundreds of miles.
