2007 Suburban 1500 2WD

Question

I've been doing the research and even emailed Remco and Blue Ox. I am awaiting their answers.

Here is my question:

I own a 2007 Chevy Suburban 1500, 5.3L, Auto, LTZ. This thing is paid off so I do not want to get rid of it for a 4WD or something with a transfer case. I need the 3 rows since there are 5 of us and usually the 2 friend tag-along deal.

Can I use my vehicle as a TOAD and tow 4 down? I know it will cost a lot but we really love this vehicle and do not want to get rid of it.

Need assistance in SoCal.

check the Remco website. Your RWD suburban will need a lube pump. it cannot be flat  towed as is.what will you use to tow the Suburban? They are heavy.

I have a 2008 Gulfstream Supernova on the International chassis. I used to tow an enclosed 20' trailer with close to 7k pounds on it with no issues.

I believe the Suburban is a tick under 6k pounds.

I checked Remco and they state: "Lube Pump Kit"

I believe I will also need a drive shaft disconnect???

If you disconnect the drive shaft, there should not be a need for the lube pump. The transmission will not be effected if it is disconnected from the rear wheels. The lube pump should eliminate the need to disconnect the drive shaft.But, maybe I'm wrong.You have enough towing capacity for the Suburban. :)

If you remove the rear drive shaft, as in a drive/shaft disconnect, then there's absolutely NO NEED for a pump. Or, if you leave the present drive shaft intact, then yes, now you've got some transmission components turning, while it's being towed down the road. And that will necessitate the need for the lube pump. I'm not a fan of either one and, will never use either one but, it's not my choice here, it's the OPs.

There is always the incredibly cheap (read: FREE) method of getting underneath, removing the differential yoke straps, wrap tape around the u-joint, secure the driveshaft to the underbody, put the part in a plastic zip-lock bag, and go.
I once had a Datsun pickup I had to do that to. It worked, and only took about five minutes to get ready for towing or driving.
Very few people are willing to do it, but it IS a no-cost option!
