I opened all the faucets and low point drain before I left the campground and drove home like that. I tried to install one of the quick drain valves on the water heater but it leaked really bad so I put the plastic one back in. I'm guessing that I should have used teflon tape on the threads for the quick drain valve? Didn't have any with me at the campground.
On my Atwood heater, I used a high temp nylon hose fitting and yes I teflon taped it. I can unscrew the whole thing as needed to flush out the tank of sediment build up. I need to lift the saftey relieve valve handle to allow it to drain out easier.
Here is the fitting. The older one in the middle is the factory plug. The hose is 150 psi potable hot water rated however the hose is always filled with cold water as the 1st water in during fill up fills the hose and it never changes until I drain it.
