The new hitch design started with the new '11 frame. I haven't heard of any issues either, but am checking my hitch occasionally. The metal used is not the thickest compared to an aftermarket hitch. Still looks better than the previous hitch.
Consider buying a new 2.5" shank so you don't need the 2.5"-2" adapter. Lots of stories of people loosing them because they forgot to remove it after removing the hitch.
