Great post! I'm eager to hear how well they perform (vibration, etc.). I've been considering a pair too. I understand they had some reliability issues with the power folding motors. Hopefully that's been corrected. Good info on the extra bracket requirement. I'm unfamiliar with the nutsert, and using a riveting tool to install it. Will have to investigate that part more. Did you purchase the nutserts separately? Or were they included with the kit?
I replaced a mirror on our Fusion with one of theirs and encountered poor gaskets and fit, which made me a bit nervous. Yours looks good.
Thanks for the write up!!
BillyW,
The nutserts were bought extra, as there were only holes where the brackets mount. The cheap nutsert set did its job. And, very easy to use. Thread on the nutsert, insert it in the hole tight against the body, squeeze. Tighten a little more, and see if you can make it a bit tighter. I didn't go overboard, since it was a harbor freight product.
If you swap out the gasket, you will be fine. If you wanted more, insurance, add a bit of silicone sealant. I will advise of any leaks.
I towed this weekend with them, which was why I was in a rush to install them. No vibrations or any issues (other than the temp sender). And, fooling around today, looks like the temp sensor just had dirty contacts.
By the way, since I copied from one forum to another, some of the formatting was messed up, so I just fixed the links.
EDIT:
YouTube video on Nutserts.
