I drive a 3.5 EB towing a TT. While driving at 55 to 60 I get about 12.5 mpg and at 65 I get under 10 mpg. I don't drive faster than 65. Speed kills mpg.
As far as it being dangerous to drive at my speeds, i am usually keeping up with the semis driven by several companies that have signs on the back of the trailer that says that the truck is speed regulated. If I am dangerous, so are the semis. However, I prefer to stay off of the interstate highways because the US highways are more fun. Little towns are a blast to explore. I am retired and don't get paid by the mile.
