3 weeks in the southern states

Just completed our three week wander..Memphis, Macon, Savannah, St Augustine and New Orleans (Mardi Gras time). Apart from the pipe-wrench thru the front bumper, uneventful. Great food, wonderful people. Met up with two RV.Netters...Monkey44 in St Augustine and Tone&Karen in NOLA.

If you want to gaze at some pix they are on my FB page and I have left them open to public.

  • Gary,

You sure did it the right time of the year.

A few years ago we toured the South in our Class C in July-August ... never again in that heat and humidity. I remember drycamping one night when we had to run the generator and A/C almost all night in order to sleep.

In our rented car. On #100 just west of Toone, in Tennessee..guy moving his stuff had an insecure load..a tote bounced off the load, dumping tools and assorted junk all over the oncoming lane, including his grand-pappies old pipe wrench. BANG...stop and look and there we had a fist sized hole in the front bumper, drivers side. The driver took responsibility to the Deputy that attended and his insurance guy, on the phone, we connected with the rental outfits offices and our insurance company, did all the paper exchange etc. I don't know if he was charged with anything...he should have been.

By the the time we returned the car in New Orleans that hole had spread and ripped and just in general looked pretty sad.
