Well many run one A/C on 20 amps. I did no problems. BUT do not try to run much of anything else and make sure batteries are full up.

If you do wire a 30 amp outlet (Consider putting in a 50 instead, more in a bit) Make sure the electrician knows it is a 120 volt outlet.. NOT a 240 volt, Have him show you that it is 120 volt by metering the two FLAT slots (No lead to the round hole) make sure the circuit breaker is a sigle, not a dual ganged.
Now why did I say consider a 50.. All those warnings do not apply to a 50 amp outlet, the electrician will install it PROPERLY, no problem.

IF you are worried that the cord will not be properly protected, Have him put in a 50 amp outlet and the proper feeder wire,,,, but only use 30 amp breakers.
