The generator will struggle to unsuccessfully maintain voltage and frequency while shutting down under load. I suspect electronic devices could be damaged with low voltage and/or frequency.
Economy mode struggles to start heavy loads like motors, and may trip breakers before ramping up to speed. If you know you will be starting or using a high load device like a vacuum, microwave, etc, turn off economy mode first. For charging batteries you can likely leave it on.
My Yamaha also has these recommendations. Even starting my small vacuum cleaner with a 2000w generator with economy mode on is difficult, and doesn't sound good either for the vacuum or the generator. Enjoy your purchase!!!
