The solution is to look at the Yamaha sIEB model that has 500 watts of surge for 10 seconds drawing from the unit's starter battery.
I coupled that to a hybrid inverter that does load support, so I have zero issues with running in eco mode.
Good grief, that's hardly relevant for the OP who originally intended to buy an inexpensive, NOISY, open frame genset, price range $189 to $269 US, but after several pages of discussion was convinced to make a quantum leap up in getting this slightly used Champ 2K inverter genset for $340 US which will serve his purposes just fine and not drive everyone else out of the campground. He's just asking for clarity on how to best use his new prize, not looking to spend thousands more on a premium series like the Yamaha EF3000ISEB. :R
To the OP - your genset is no different than my Honda EU2000i ... when you anticipate loads greater than 700 - 800 watts just turn the ECO mode off so it's already running full tilt when that heavier load hits it. As for running out of fuel this genset will run for hours on gallon of gas ... after a few uses you'll know when it's time to refuel before it runs out, no different than any other genset.
