46 Month old Maxxis tire

Thought these would last longer than they did. Am I expecting too much? This was on the left rear today before swapping with the spare. It is a 205/75/15-LRD. Trailer originally came with LRC.

Better than DURO Bias ply (OEM) and Denman Express (BK)

Have ordered Goodyear Endurance. Will see how they go.

I agree that looked more like tire failure than curb rash or alignment.

But I'd still check the alignment.. Also the weight on the tire and the tire's inflation charts.. I forget to mention improper inflation.

    Regarding the brand name...
Some coach (I do recall who) said that every team can be counted on to Win 1/3 of their games, and lose 1/3 of their games. it is the remaining third that makes up the difference between the champions and the basement.

With tire companies. the percentages may be different, but every company, no matter how good occasionally puts out an "Opps" and every company no matter how bad a good one. The ratio of Gold to Lemon is what makes a good bran v/s "China bombs".

Are they Made in the USA? :C

    Maybe this would help: USA
  • Since I just went up one size and put 5 new Maxxis on, I'll stick with them. It'll be interesting to see how the endurance fares. Hopefully it turns out to be an improvement.

^ He has a good point, check the loading. If you have torsion axles, presume it's a tandem axle trailer, if the trailer is nose up or nose down, it will load on axle or the other heavier. Torsional don't modulate like leaf springs.
  • Tire is one load range higher than OEM. Rating covers full trailer GVWR.
Trailer is less than 1" out of level and has leaf springs.
Tire was on same position the entire ride... left rear for least chance of curbing or other road hazard. Still full of air, never patched.
All tires spin balanced when initially installed.

    Why yes they are.

Date codes ranged from 0717 to 1817
  • Your luck you got that many months, go to LT's and you will never have the issue again.
