All this emotion about Marketing Badges...'half ton'...as Marketing stuff is almost
meaningless
The OP's GVWR/F-R GAWR/etc has NOT changed and next year...the 1500HD might reference
a 7,400 GVWR 'half ton'
As my 1980 Silverado C10...AKA "half ton" of that day was the "HD" version with
a 6,200 GVWR. The regular "half ton" had a lower GVWR. Whereas the OPs
version of a 'HD' half ton is +8K GVWR
When asking an OP which half ton they are talking about...they switch to other
marketing nomenclature..."well, it is a CC, long bed and tow package", or "it
is the HD version"...or they count wheel lugs...
But, am alone in wishing folks abandon market badging and use the only real
metric to tell anyone/everyone which vehicle class they are talking about
