The cheater box SDcampoweroperator is talking about will work UNLESS you plug into a 20 amp GFCI breaker (which most campgrounds I've been in have)
we have and use a
cheater box, the GFCI info is dead on .... we also created a separate 20 amp circuit in our camper .... to do so, we installed a boat type (weather proof) male plug in a compartment in the camper .... a wire runs from it inside the camper to a single 20 amp breaker box .... the wire coming out of that box is connected to 3 standard wall outlets .... one is right beside the OEM plug for the water heater, one in the bathroom cabinet and one in the living area .... that way when on 30 amp service we can run the water heater and a couple of other appliances on a separate source of current .... that has worked well for us
