My answer to lighten the rig was to separate the different types of gear. We don't full time it so we wont see FHU one week and boondocking the next. The things we can only use with hook ups went on a shelf. Likewise with the gear we used before the trailer for tenting, including the 56 pound tent went on a self. We trimmed the dishes, utensils, glasses, etc. down to four each. Last was thinning out the duplicates, old stuff that had been replace or just never used anymore.
Weight wise we probably only dropped 100 pounds or so but weight wasn't the issue. I was tired of having to dig for everything I needed. Now most of the storage areas are only half full and one is even empty. I can open a door, see whats in there, grab it and go. NO MORE DIGGING!
It was odd seeing the trailer empty though. I'd have to lose or move more stuff but I can double or triple the fresh water tank capacity. That empty compartment would be great for batteries too. It's nice to have options again.
