Somehow this topic morphed into ways folks "lighten" an RV as opposed to the OP's original comments on ideas to "declutter" an RV.
There can be a vast difference between these two goals:
The way we bought our RV resulted in it's maximum rated weight carrying capacity being around 2200 lbs. more than that of the RV itself, so any extra weight we pile into it isn't an issue.
As far as clutter is concerned, our RV also has plenty of storage for just the two of us. So ... to keep trip preparation simple, we keep the RV ready to go anywhere, on any kind of trip, anytime. This means we keep every possible item in it we can think of with respect to spare parts, safety, endurance, and trip theme.
Here's some widely varying examples of our RV's constant loading:
- Always have a beach umbrella along.
- Always have crutches along.
- Always have fishing gear along.
- Always have hiking gear along.
- Always have rain gear and umbrellas along.
- Always have cold weather jackets along.
- Always have suntan creme along.
- Always have five (5) outside chairs along - two of them being lounge chairs.
- Always have a fold-up outside table along.
- Always have cold weather window insulation along.
- Always have a shovel along.
- Always have an air compressor along.
- Always have a BBQ along with plenty of propane for it.
- Always have a camera along.
- Always have binoculars along.
- Always have a bunch of blankets and towels along.
- Always have rockhound gear along.
- Always have tree limb pruners along.
- Always have a spare tire and changing equipment for it along.
- Always have a large limb/log saw along.
- Always have tow chain along.
- Always have extension cords along.
- Always have long fresh water filling hoses along.
- Always have an extension for the black tank emptying hose along.
- Always have a spare grey and black tank shutoff valve along.
- Always have two generators along.
- Always have two battery chargers along.
- Always have a whole backup water pump or rebuild kit for it along.
- Always have some spare water system tubing and fittings along.
- Always have a spare water heater and refrigerator igniter along.
- Always have some spare main engine and generator fuel along.
- Always have a vacuum cleaner along.
- Always have fire wood along.
- Always have mosquito repellant systems along.
- Always have a computer, cell phones, board games, books, and DVD movies along.

Our Rv is basically configured the same all the time when starting out on trips. This really keeps trip preparation low-stress, as flexible as possible, and makes for easy in-trip changes.
