I appreciate the polite way that camperfamily posted, and he is correct.
I don't know what source you would believe, but if you will do a search you will find that 50-amp service is 50 amps on each of two 120-volt legs. So, most of us would consider that to be 100 amps.
Perhaps it would be better to say that 50-amp service is 12000 watts of power (100 amps time 120 volts, or 50 amps times 240 volts.) For contrast, 30-amp service is 30 amps on one 120-volt leg. Or, 3600 watts.
On edit: changed 3500 watts to 3500 watts in the sentence above.
