I understand the appeal of 55 plus RV parks. My office used to be located within a Del Webb Sun City.I got married later in life and had triplet boys at the age of 50. Now that my kids are six years old we want to get a motorhome or travel trailer.I noticed that in a lot of places like Scottsdale and Phoenix many of the RV parks are age-restricted 55 +. Since I am now 56 years old will they let me in in a motorhome with three six year old boys? We would not be staying for months and months at a time. Rather it would be for a short period like a few days to week.Are the residence and such RV parks generally friendly of such parks towards kids or would they rather not have kids around?

Why do you think that are advertised as 55+? I like kids, am 64 years old, but if I were to visit.a park that wanted 55+, then that’s what I’d want to be there.

No, they wont take you with kids or even your spouse if under 50. I'm in the same boat; My wife and I are over 50 but we will always have an adult disabled (well under 50) son with us and cant use those places.

Is that like going to a store that has a NO PETS sign and asking for it to be ok with yours because you wont be in there long.

As I said it in my original post Del Webb communities allows grandparents for instance, to have their grandchildren stay with them for a short while (less than months). I've also seen postings on forums stating that some places allow kids actually. So I figured I would ask here. I wouldn't bring the kids to a resort if the residents were of the harumph harumph, get off my lawn types.

I always thought the purpose of a 55+ park was to restrict the age of the campers to 55 and older. If a CG does not allow dogs, is it okay take dogs.Am I missing or not understanding something..:hI think hou would be better off calling the CG's you are interested in using. It's more of a pain but that would give you the most accurate answer.

"Lexx"......I think you may be looking at the wrong type of parks. A lot of those parks in Arizona are where the snowbirds stay for the winter. There are many regular parks that take kids and are used for short stays like a week or so.

I would think, and have seen. some parks will make an exception in a situation like yours.
we have friends whose son was injured in an accident. He can't be left alone. He goes where they go.

BTW. I admire you for you love, and dedication to your son, as I do them. It would be so easy for them to put him in a home for the disabled. But they will not. They care for him and take him every where they go. But hey. Isn't that what real parents do. Your children are always your children, No matter how old they get, or what happens to them. Hats off to you sir.

Big difference between a severely handicapped, dependent, child and six year old healthy triplets. Most all 55 plus resorts would make reasonable accomodations in their rules to allow 55+ seniors charged with the care of a disabled child to stay. I doubt any of those same parks would allow the triplets.

I agree to check with the parks themselves, it might not be a hard and fast rule for some or a strict rules for others, same as some will not let an RV over 10 years old, then some will bend the rule if the RV looks good. Happy Camping

I'd look at it differently. Will your triplets really enjoy staying in an RV park with a bunch of old fogies and no kids?

There will be parks and traditional campgrounds that will be more enjoyable for the kids. I'd look at non-age restricted parks.

We avoid the 55+ RV parks. No fun for kids. I avoid the religious based parks also.

:) Hi, if I was looking for a 55+ RV park, I wouldn't want a bunch of kids running around. I don't look for those type parks, but have stayed in a few as we passed through to our destination. We have stayed at parks made for kids and we were fine with those too. (Yogi Bear's Jellystone)

There are also "Airstream only" parks too; We have not been to any of those either.
