How about the Ford 6.7. We just bought a new F350. Reading the 6.0 horror stories worries me about the new engine. I don't mean to hijack the thread.
I'm not impresses. I see a lot of blown engines here. Blown fuel pumps are the least problems of these engines.
Wow not fun reading in that forum!!
It is the "Engine Problems" section, but many of those stories are just flat scary.
Reading the post to your link, seems that possible cause is engine shutdown during regen when EGT temps and valves are very hot. Maybe a cool down timer so engine won't shutdown if in regen.
I have thought of installing a shutdown timer on my 01, but just do it by watching my EGT before shutting down. I sure get some strange looks when I get out of the truck still running and gather my stuff before reaching and turning off after EGT drops below 300 degrees.
That is certainly one persons opinion, but I don't agree.
If it was as simple as letting the engine cool off Ford could write a simple software change to do this to fix the problem. That would be cheap and easy. They aren't, they are tearing the engines down and putting in new valves which is SUPER expensive and difficult to do.
The valves are junk in this engine and they are starting to pop like popcorn.
Look at Fords, TSB: 13-05-09 for details. 13-05-09
Look at post #16.
More reading about this TSB valve mess.
The thing that is really worrisome it the fact the TSB goes from 2011 through 2013! :E That is bad news.
