I have a 2006 Duramax with 42k miles, just had the turbo replaced last week. Probably just a fluke, but still $2500.
I know literally over 100 owners of Ford 6.0's that have had major issues. That's between friends/ private owners and fire departments/ ambulance companies.
One thing that I have noticed...probably 75% of those with problems had the 2003.5 or 2004 model trucks. It seems that the 2005+ trucks were much better, but still had the EGR coolers issues and sometimes the headbolts.
Again, maintenance is key. Although the Ford to me is a better looking truck...the risk versus reward for me just isn't worth it to take a chance on a 6.0.
