6.7 Diesel Towing MPG

But, I'd expect 10-12 from a diesel (with diesel in the tank).

I typically average between 10-11 MPG on my 2013 F250 towing a 34' travel trailer.

But to attempt to answer your question. Most of the diesels get comparable fuel mileage. With our 6.7 Ram (manual trans), towing a 20+K 5th wheel, we get around 9.5+ on an extended trip. Obviously, it is dependent upon your driving practices.... easy, slow acceleration, coasting to stops, keeping you speed @ 65 or a little under, will all help. Driving in traffic, pretty much negates all of the above suggestions! Enjoy your new truck, and your travels! :)

Around 30% better than gas engine.

Truck in signature with 3.77 rear end towing 14K fiver. Average over the last 18K miles (coast-to-coast and gulf to northern border) has been 10.5 MPG. 38 gallon fuel tank means fuel stops about every 350 miles (keeping a little fuel reserve). Out west where things can be several hundred miles apart, I fill up any time diesel is available and the fuel gauge is under 1/2. Previous 12K miles were with a DuraMax... the average was the same!

It's a 450 mile trip. The mileage difference between your gasser and a new diesel will be significant on the display and a 48 gal tank of diesel will get u there nonstop, but the overall cost difference will be less than the beer required for the trip!

I would expect about 8 mpg towing and 17 empty.

With the difference in fuel prices being about 30%, a 30% increase in fuel economy is pretty much a wash. It will take millions of miles of towing to "save" any money.

Now that that's out of the way, you didn't buy it for fuel economy. If you had penciled it out, you were way ahead staying with the old truck. You bought it to PLAY. Quit worrying about fuel economy and go PLAY.

True.... With MOST of us that have/need a diesel, we did not purchase them due to the great fuel mileage....... its all about TORQUE and HP..
