6 people killed in Texas campsite attack

Six people killed and authorities knew he was voilent..
Alas the article on Fox News did not say how they were killed.

Knife, Gun, Other. It just said they were killed and a suspect arrested.

Scout motto......."Be Prepared"..I am, and won't hesitate to defend my family if needed.

" he who hesitates is lost"..

Yet another unarmed victim(s) killed by a lunatic. Why do I say they were unarmed? The liberal reporting outlets don't mention anything about the victims having a gun...which would otherwise fit into their narrative. The article posted on Yahoo indicates that the victims were shot.

An armed victim certainly doesn't always mean that they won't still be harmed, but it changes the game. Be prepared...everywhere you go...to act rationally for your protection, your family's protection, or for the protection of someone else.

I definitely agree that we have to take primary responsibility for our own self-defense, however you think is necessary.

This incident, like majority of them, involved family/friends NOT some errant stranger encounter.

And it occurred at home...........trailer parked at residence.

I feel safe at CGs and fortunately my circle of family/friends are sane.

Situational awareness is a key element. Be aware of your surroundings, and of the impressions you get from people. Using good judgment based on your observations will help you avoid most problems. Feel free to walk away from a situation if necessary.

Having the training and tools to handle trouble when you do your best to avoid it and it still comes looking for you is essential.

Family and friends may be ok, but a lot of crime is also perpetrated by complete strangers on others.....such is life as we know it in 2015..

They probably forgot to say thanks. I've seen churches split over that.

"Keep a hand free in order to employ a defensive weapon." I guess that means even if you're on your private property.
What a horrible event.

It is a horrible event, but it's a reminder that sometimes trouble does come looking for you. A recent Marine general gave his troops some interesting advice. "Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet."

You never know what the other guy is thinking. If you are at least thinking about alternatives if something happens, you are money ahead. It's unfortunate that things can go that way, but it's reality.

ETA- that same general made another statement that's relevant to this discussion. "There are hunters and there are victims. By your discipline, cunning, obedience and alertness, you will decide if you are a hunter or a victim."
