Just a quick question? With winter coming on, should I pack my connecter socket with grease or does the factory flap do a good job of keeping salt and moisture out? I would hate to come out the other side with connection problems.

I'd spray it with some liquid type grease or a battery terminal anti-corrosion type spray.

I use Caig Deoxit Gold on exterior connectors.

What are the contacts made of? On a Dodge they're stainless steel behind a rubber sealed door and will hold up fine without any thing added that may eventually hinder conductivity.

Dielectric grease found at a hardware store in the electrical department. Brand doesn't make much difference. Etrailer sells LubriMatic Electrical Contact Grease which works as well as many.

Mine has seen 9 Indiana winters without a single problem without any treatment.

I coat all my exposed electrical with dielectric grease. Its cheap insurance

That's part of what Diaelectric compound is for. Depends on the euality of the plug too.
