I hate to see decisions made because of some arbitrary age limit. I’m nearly 66 and semi-retired because apparently the brain surgeons that make the hiring decisions in corporate America feel that I’m too old and decrepit to sit in front of a computer or at a table full of data searching for the next oil prospect. The sad part is at 6’5” and 220 lbs with a Mensa level IQ, I could physically and mentally kick the butts of most of these imbeciles. It really sucks to be treated like that when you love the work you do and you’re good at it.
As for how far to drive, I’ll drive just as far every day as I feel like. Personally, I like driving best at 2am, there’s no traffic and it’s cool out so usually you don’t even need the AC on. If I’m driving cross country I’ll typically pull into a rest area around 10pm and sleep until 2am and then I’m back on the road, only at 2am I have the whole road to myself.
