- OutdoorPhotograExplorerLove my long bed. Perfect for kayak. Full sheet of plywood as stated earlier. I have Supercab. I agree Super Crew (or equivelent) would be too much. I can't fit in my garage unless I have a spotter and a real need to get it out of weather.

Not any more. My '13 and my current 2017 6'7" bed both came with the same 36 gallon tanks as the 8' beds. - hawkeye-08Explorer IIIMy plan was to get an 8' bed for the reasons mentioned, but it would not fit in the garage so I have a 6.5' bed, but then again, we have a travel trailer, not a 5th wheel so things work fine. If we were getting a 5th wheel trailer, I would lean towards the 8' for sure.
- goducks10ExplorerNo slider needed and more room between the cab and the 5th hitch for extra gear.

Need some reasons the why 8' truck bed is better to tow with for a 5th wheel ? Please
I have both...and I made a living towing with both...and the long bed isn't any better for handling....carrying weight....or ride comfort than a short bed truck for my purposes anyway.
For every plus we can show you a minus either way.
Just get the truck in the cab selection/wheelbase/bed length/color/gazz or diezzul/manual or auto/2wd or 4wd you want. - the_happiestcamExplorerLarger fuel tank
- Dave_H_MExplorer III been towing for years with a short box and no slider. No problems.
Check out the folks on the road. Eons of crew cab and extended cab short box tow vehicles on the road. - frankwpExplorerI've got a standard box with a slider, but have never used the slide feature with my current 5th wheel.
I wouldn't want a long box with a crew cab. Way to long for daily parking & navigating in traffic. But that's purely a personal choice. Only you can decide what will work for you. - Parrothead_MikeExplorerBeen pulling with a short bed for 14 years. Got a slider hitch, but never used the slide feature. No dings on the cab. Works fine.
- HappytravelerExplorerA short bet truck looks awesome for looks, but don't pull a 5th wheel with a short bed. The longer bed is better for backing in a space and towing. Don't go for looks, LOL.
